In Karachi, the Sindh High Court has suspended the implementation of two notifications regarding the increase in gas prices for industries. The High Court heard the petitions of more than 400 industries regarding the controversy surrounding the application of notifications on the increase in gas prices provided to industries.
The petitioners’ lawyers argued that OGRA had issued the first notification for the increase in gas prices for industries on November 15, 2023, and the collection of increased prices had started from November 1, 2023. Additionally, the second notification for the increase in industrial gas prices was issued on February 8, with the collection of additional prices set to commence from February 1, 2024.
The petitioners’ lawyers contended that collecting additional prices before the implementation of the notifications is illegal. Later, the court suspended the implementation of the two notifications regarding the increase in gas prices for industries, stating that the collection will only take place once the notifications are implemented.
