In 1980, a 19-year-old student was murdered after being sexually assaulted. The case of the murder of the student in a college in Oregon on January 15, 1980 was finally solved after 44 years based on DNA evidence obtained from the suspect, Robert Pullman. According to international news agencies, Barbara Tucker, 19, was abducted from the college parking lot, sexually assaulted, and then murdered. The discovery of her body caused a stir on the college campus. Despite all efforts by the police, the case could not be solved at that time and was closed by preserving the evidence and witnesses obtained from the crime scene. However, during DNA profiling in 2000, the case was reopened. When the suspect’s DNA matched with the evidence obtained from the crime scene, the police could not arrest him directly. Therefore, a spy was put on surveillance who obtained a sample of the suspect’s saliva which matched with the DNA evidence from the murder. This led to the arrest of the killer, Robert Pullman, now 60 years old. The suspect has been charged and a trial is expected to be held in June.
