Fakhar Zaman has admitted that the captaincy of Shahin Afridi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has proven his suspicions wrong. In an interview given to the Pakistan Cricket Board, Fakhar Zaman said that he is a young cricketer and is very excited to fight till the end of the last ball as captain. During the PSL, Shahin proved many people wrong by captaining. He said that after becoming the captain of Lahore Qalandars, Shahin’s performance in both bowling and batting improved significantly, and his fearless attitude is a quality that should be in a leader. He wished that Shahin Shah Afridi, the new captain of the T20, does not have to face fitness issues, as we saw in the cases of Nasim Shah and others in the 2023 World Cup. It makes a difference to lose one or more players, and I hope they will achieve great success in their captaincy. It should be noted that after the incomplete performance of the national team in the ICC World Cup, Babar Azam had resigned from the leadership duties in all three formats. After Babar Azam, PCB had assigned the Test and T20 leadership to Shan Masood and Shahin to the T20, but the announcement of the captain for the One Day format was not made. The national team under the captaincy of Shahin Shah Afridi will play a T20 series against New Zealand next year.
