The bill for hanging rapists has been presented in the Senate by Jamaat-e-Islami, which has been opposed by other parties including Peoples Party, PML-N, and PTI.

Jamaat-e-Islami senator Mushtaq Ahmad presented the bill for hanging rapists in the Senate. A senator from Muslim League Q, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam F and a senator from PTI also supported the bill for hanging rapists.

Peoples Party senator Sherry Rehman said that public hanging spreads barbarism in the country and the Peoples Party had opposed the death penalty for rape, and instead called for improved policing rather than death penalty laws.

She said that the death penalty is the fifth highest in the world, public hanging does not beautify the society of the 21st century, and it will not stop crime.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui of the Muslim League-N also opposed the law concerning public hanging and said that the hanging should be kept at the gallows. Speaker of the House, Ayaz Sadiq, said that the death penalty is present in the law, hence they oppose the public hanging.

PTI also opposed the public hanging of the accused rapists. Barrister Ali Zafar said that in the current law, the harsh penalty is death penalty, which they support, they oppose public hanging. Punishments should be carried out in public and on the roads, but instead, the justice system should be improved.

Senator Kamal Ali Agha of the PMLQ said that in America, videos are released after the death penalty is enforced, and in Saudi Arabia public hanging is carried out, if they are Muslims, they should have the correct stance, but what is happening in the world is not important, what Islam says is important.

Another PTI senator, Humayun Muhammad, supported the public hanging of the accused rapists. Senator Humayun Muhammad said that the countries where public punishments are present, the crimes are low and where hands are cut, theft is also less.
