California: Technology company Google has issued a warning to millions of Chrome users to update their browser app after identifying them as targets of a cyber attack. According to the company, hackers can take control of users’ computers due to cyber attacks.
Google has cautioned that cybercriminals are using malicious pop-up windows or websites to access users’ private information. An important update released by the company has fixed the flaw in the browser, which users can access by going to the settings of Google Chrome browser.
According to Google, the initial version of Chrome had a flaw that helped cyber attackers launch an attack on users’ devices through a malicious HTML page. However, the company did not clearly specify the details of the flaw.
Usually, when a fake HTML page appears on the screen that looks like a regular website, but hackers can capture information by seizing the computer after the user clicks on it.
These HTML pages can also appear as pop-ups and users may be instructed to download the latest antivirus software or browser, but instead, they end up downloading software that steals their data.
