Amnesty International has demanded that India refrain from demolishing Muslim properties.

According to Al Jazeera’s report, Amnesty International has recently released two reports confirming that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Hindutva policy has led to illegal demolition of Muslim properties in India, with homes, businesses, and places of worship being targeted in various states.

Furthermore, Amnesty International has declared the act of demolition as a “violation of court sentences” and has demanded compensation for the affected individuals, many of whom have been left destitute with their livelihoods completely destroyed.

The report states that approximately 617 individuals have been deprived of their roofs or a permanent source of income due to the demolition of homes with bulldozers, with Muslim properties targeted in Assam, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.

It is important to note that the ruling BJP party governs in these five states, and they have faced allegations of anti-Muslim rhetoric. The report also highlights that Indian authorities have disregarded the rule of law and demolished homes, businesses, and places of worship.

According to Amnesty International, hate, incitement, harassment, and impunity have prevailed through the use of law enforcement agencies and bulldozers. Amnesty International has called for action to be taken against human rights violations.
