Karachi: Announcement of competition for new currency notes design in the country
State Bank of Pakistan has made a fundamental decision to introduce new currency notes for all denominations in the country, after which an announcement for a competition for the new design of currency notes has been made. In this regard, State Bank has invited local artists, designers, and students to participate in the competition for the new notes’ design.
The central bank has stated that local artists, designers, and students can submit their designs to the State Bank by March 11. Among the 7 different denominations, 3 top designs will be awarded with cash prizes. The experts of currency notes will decide the successful designs, after which the final design will be approved by the cabinet.
The process of issuing new currency notes for all denominations will be completed in the next 2 years, however, the legal status of the current designs of currency notes will remain intact. After issuing the new design currency notes, the old design notes will be phased out gradually.
