Peshawar: The Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has filed a petition with the Peshawar High Court for reconsideration of the decision regarding taking oath from selected members in special sessions. Speaker filed the petition with the mediation of Ali Azeem Afridi.
The petition states that while the Peshawar High Court has ordered to take oath from selected members in special sessions, the Speaker has not yet called for a session in the provincial assembly for the oath to be taken, as per the court’s decision.
According to the petitioner, neither the assembly session has been called nor the requisition has been issued, so how can the oath be taken from members. Therefore, the court should reconsider its decision.
The petition has named the provincial government, election commission, law secretary, and others as respondents.
