Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Pakistan Public Works Department to immediately eliminate inefficiency and corruption.
Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, an important meeting was held to reduce government expenditures and streamline government processes, in which the Prime Minister directed the Pakistan Public Works Department to immediately eliminate inefficiency and corruption.
Sharif said that Pakistan Public Works Department as an institution has failed to achieve its objectives. He instructed that for ongoing development projects under the Pakistan Public Works, an alternative action plan should be prepared.
During the meeting, the committee chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan presented its report to the Prime Minister regarding reducing government expenditures.
The committee recommended the elimination of some government agencies and the merger of others in its report, upon which the Prime Minister directed the committee to prepare further recommendations.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Makhdoom Shahbaz, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema.
Also present at the meeting were Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, State Minister for Finance and Revenue, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan and relevant senior government officials.
