Tel Aviv: Israeli Defense Minister Yuval Gillent has said that Israel is fully prepared to deal with any possible retaliation from Iran after the attack on the consulate in Damascus, the capital of Syria. According to a report by an international news agency, Yuval Gillent stated during a briefing at the Israeli Ministry of Defense center in Tel Aviv that the defense system is fully ready to face any possible situation with Iran.

It should be noted that on April 1, following the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, seven senior generals, including Revolutionary Guards, were killed. Iran had blamed Israel for the bombing of the consulate and had announced to respond strongly, but Israel did not formally accept responsibility for the attack.

However, in view of possible attacks from Iran, the Israeli Defense Minister has announced completion of preparations to counter any potential threats. Iran and Israel have been exchanging hostile statements since the Gaza war, which resulted in over 1,200 Israelis killed in Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. Israel subsequently launched brutal actions in the Gaza Strip, which are ongoing even six months later.

So far, more than 33,100 Palestinians have been martyred in the attacks on the Gaza Strip, and over 75,800 have been injured. In addition, the infrastructure of the Gaza Strip has been destroyed and citizens do not have access to basic necessities.

According to the United Nations, 85% of the population in Gaza are homeless and are not able to access food, clean water, and medicine. 60% of the infrastructure has been damaged or completely destroyed.

On the other hand, Israel is being held responsible for genocide in Gaza, and South Africa has filed a case against Israel in the International Court of Justice for genocide and demanded that measures be taken to protect civilians in Gaza.
