Lahore: National cricket team player Ahmad Shehzad has said that despite performing well in domestic cricket for the past three years, he has not been able to make it to the national team, politics is not my thing.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Ahmad Shehzad expressed his desire to return to the national team, saying, “I have been playing continuous domestic cricket for the past three years, my performances for the country are there for everyone to see, but my name has not been included in the national team or in the PSL.”

He said, “I have continued to work hard and my performance in the ongoing season has been very good, my name was also included in the camp based on domestic performance, now I am hoping to get an opportunity, when you come to the camp once, you become part of the 20-member squad.”

Ahmad Shehzad expressed hope that he will be given a fair opportunity. He said, “To make a comeback in the national squad, one has to perform in domestic cricket, which I have done, I want to benefit the country through my performance and experience, there is still a lot to improve in the top order, I have always played in the top order, we still talk about strike rate, attacking and modern day cricket.”

He said, “I hope that after appearing in T20, I will get a chance, during domestic T20, I had contacted Chief Selector Waqar Younis, he had said that if you are not in the PSL, your domestic performance will be considered, including a player in the team based on one or two performances in the PSL is unfair to the player and the team.”

Ahmad Shehzad said, “Chairman Mohsin Khan is very challenging, he has worked as a positive manner as the monitor chief minister, speaking of the chairman’s merit is a good thing.” At the end of his conversation, he answered a meaningful question saying, “Politics is not my thing, I work from the heart.”
