A woman in Hyderabad, Pakistan, recently made headlines after giving birth to six premature babies. Unfortunately, only one of the infants survived.

The woman, named Rekha and hailing from Umerkot, delivered the babies prematurely during the 21st week of her pregnancy at 3 am. According to the doctor, the infants had a low birth weight, which is defined as less than 5.5 pounds by the World Health Organization.

Typically, babies who survive are born after 37-38 weeks of pregnancy. Tragically, five of Rekha’s children did not survive. One of them experienced intrauterine fetal demise, also known as stillbirth, while the other four passed away within a span of two to three hours after being born.

Currently, only one baby girl from the sextuplets remains alive. However, her condition is critical and requires immediate medical attention.

This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by premature babies and their parents. Medical professionals continue to work tirelessly to improve neonatal care, but cases like these highlight the urgent need for advancements in the field.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rekha and her family during this difficult time. We hope that the surviving baby girl receives the necessary care to overcome her critical condition.
