WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is set to launch a new voice chat feature in the near future, aimed at providing a smoother way to communicate through voice calls in large groups.
The feature, previously available in beta, will now be officially released, allowing WhatsApp users to connect with up to 32 participants.
However, the new voice chat feature operates differently – when a new voice chat begins, group participants will not be automatically called; instead, they will receive a push notification, and anyone in the group can join by double tapping the in-chat bubble.
The update will also allow participants to send text messages while connected to the voice chat. Additionally, the voice chats are end-to-end encrypted and can accommodate up to 32 participants.
The new voice chat feature will be available on iOS and Android in the coming weeks.
