Pakistan’s weekly inflation continued to rise, with a year-on-year increase of 41.90 percent in the week ending on November 16, driven by the increasing cost of gas, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The Sensitive Price Index (SPI) also saw a significant 9.95 percent increase on a week-on-week basis. Out of 51 items, prices of 25 items increased, 13 decreased, and 13 remained stable. The items with the highest price increases included gas, tea packet, pulse masoor, and chicken, while items like electricity charges, tomatoes, and sugar saw a decrease in prices. Pakistan’s caretaker government approved a significant increase in natural gas prices for different consumer categories, with some seeing up to a 3900 percent increase.
