Karachi: In the Gulshan-e-Maymar area of Jangal Gooth, unknown armed suspects opened fire, killing a Water Board employee by shooting him in the head during an apparent robbery resistance.

According to the police, a citizen was killed by firing in the Water Board Society near Gulshan-e-Maymar, whose body was transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the deceased was identified as 45-year-old Rustam.

The police informed that on receiving information about the incident, SSP West Hafeez-ur-Rehman reached the scene while SSP West stated that the nature of the incident could not be immediately ascertained, however, the investigation process has been initiated from various angles.

It was stated that the deceased was an employee of the Water Board and was riding a motorcycle when unknown suspects shot him in the head which proved fatal. The police have requested the Crime Scene Unit to gather evidence at the scene, and a mobile phone and money were found in the deceased’s pocket.

An eyewitness stated that the incident occurred during a robbery resistance, and the family and relatives of the deceased have labeled the incident as a robbery, but the police have started an investigation into other aspects including robbery resistance.

The SSP stated that CCTV cameras are not present at the scene and there was no electricity in the area at the time of the incident.
