Women’s tennis star Ons Jabeur, who won the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tournament in Tunisia, has announced that she will donate a portion of her prize money to the oppressed Palestinians in Gaza. According to media reports, Jabeur mentioned the children of Gaza while commenting on her victory, expressing her sadness about the current situation in the world. She stated that although winning the tournament brings her happiness, the ongoing humanitarian crisis is preventing her from fully celebrating. Jabeur emphasized that her decision to donate to the Palestinians is driven by human empathy rather than any political motive. It is worth noting that over 8,000 Palestinians, including more than 2,000 children, have been killed as a result of the Israeli aggression that began on October 7. This is not the first time that athletes have shown solidarity with Palestine, as cricketer Mohammad Rizwan also dedicated his award to the oppressed Palestinians during the ICC T20 World Cup.
