The US military announced on Monday that they have located debris from a crashed F-35 fighter jet in South Carolina. This discovery comes one day after they requested assistance from the public in locating the wreckage.
The pilot of the F-35B Lightning II jet had successfully ejected from the aircraft on Sunday afternoon.
Initially, Joint Base Charleston took to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to ask people to contact the Base Defense Operations Center with any information that could aid in the recovery efforts.
With the help of local authorities, search teams were able to locate the wreckage in Williamsburg County, two hours northeast of JB Charleston.
Joint Base Charleston expressed their gratitude to local, county, and state officials for their assistance in the search and recovery of the debris.
Manufactured by Lockheed Martin (LMT.N), the F-35 fighter jet boasts several advantages, including its ability to remain virtually undetectable by radar and its advanced sensors and technology.
