Nawaz Sharif expressed confidence that the people of Pakistan would trust the PML-N to lead the country through its challenges. The two leaders also discussed bilateral ties, cooperation on mutual concerns, and various domains including trade, economy, climate change, security, and regional stability.
The US embassy later released a statement highlighting the engagements with Pakistani political actors in Multan and Lahore. The statement emphasized the importance of free and fair elections and the US-Pakistan trade and investment relationship. In a separate meeting, PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari met with the British High Commissioner in Pakistan, Jane Marriott, in Karachi. The discussions focused on the Israel-Palestine crisis and the progress of bilateral relations between the UK and Pakistan. Zardari also extended birthday greetings to Prince Charles and conveyed best wishes on the appointment of David Cameron as the British Foreign Minister.
