At least 24 people were killed in a strike on a United Nations school in northern Gaza that was being used as a shelter for displaced people, according to a U.N. official. Israel issued a warning for residents of Jabalia and a nearby coastal camp to evacuate, as the military announced it was expanding its operations in the Gaza Strip. A Palestinian health official reported that more than 80 people were killed in twin strikes on Jabalia, including at a UN school. The UNRWA chief stated that another school in Gaza City, where 4,000 displaced people were sheltering, was also struck. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians have sought shelter at U.N. facilities in Gaza, and emphasized the inviolability of their premises. At least 176 displaced people sheltering at UNRWA schools have been reported killed and nearly 800 wounded since the start of Israel’s bombing campaign. The UN agency confirmed that at least 17 of its facilities have been directly hit. Additionally, the Al-Fakhura school was struck on Nov. 4, resulting in casualties. According to UNRWA, almost 900,000 displaced people are sheltering in their facilities across the Gaza Strip.
