The UN Human Rights Office expressed grave concern over the Israeli air strikes on Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza, stating that these attacks could potentially amount to war crimes. The office emphasized the high number of civilian casualties and the extensive destruction caused by the strikes. The Gaza interior ministry reported that apartment blocks in the residential area of the camp were hit, resulting in the deaths of at least 50 people and numerous injuries. The director of a nearby Indonesian Hospital confirmed the death toll. The health ministry stated that Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed over 8,700 Palestinians since October 7, while more than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel. The United Nations also condemned the strikes on Gaza’s largest refugee camp and expressed deep concern over the escalating violence. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and other UN officials called for an end to the violence and stressed the importance of abiding by international humanitarian law.
