New Zealand’s fast bowler Trent Boult has become the bowler taking the most wickets in World Cup matches for New Zealand. He achieved this honor during a crucial match against Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Boult obtained the wickets of Sri Lanka’s captain Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka, and Sadeera Samarawickrama. This achievement has made him the sixth bowler to take more than 50 wickets in World Cup matches. Other bowlers who have achieved this honor include Glenn McGrath with 71 wickets, Muttiah Muralitharan with 68, Mitchell Starc with 59, Lasith Malinga with 56, and Wasim Akram with 55 wickets. This match is of great significance for both teams, as a win for Sri Lanka would pave a smoother path for Pakistan to the semi-finals, as well as offering them a chance to qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy directly. On the other hand, New Zealand’s success in the match will help them reach the semi-finals of the 2023 World Cup and secure a victory against England with a big margin.
