The date of October 7, 2023 holds significant importance in the history of Palestine. It is a day that has had profound impacts on the future of Palestine. This is the day that has placed Palestine at the center of the world’s attention, as before October 7, the world only saw conspiracies against Palestine, with the issue of Palestine being forgotten. Today, the world is completely different from before October 7. Palestine has become the focal point for every human in the world.
The center and focus of global politics is also on Palestine. In the past seven months, large public protests and rallies have taken place in the Western world, with the main objective being to stop the American and Israeli aggression in Gaza. However, recently, the awakening of Palestine has taken on a new direction and has sparked a revolutionary spirit among university students.
The protest initiated in support of Palestine at Columbia University has spread throughout America and several European countries. The American government is targeting its own citizens with violence. Those protesting in support of Palestine are being arrested, students are being removed from universities, and false cases are being made to arrest and punish students.
All of this is being done by the American government because those protesting are demanding one thing from the American government – to stop the aggression in Gaza. The awakening of Palestine has not only sparked a wave of awakening in other states of America, but also in countries across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
University professors are now coming out in defense of American university students. Professors are being targeted with violence on the streets of America, being arrested, but this awakening is not showing any signs of stopping.
From one state to another, and from one country to another, demonstrations in support of Palestine have reached universities in all states. The American government is in trouble because American cities have learned that the American government, which is responsible for overseeing Israel, is actually complicit in the genocide in Gaza.
American university students are demanding that the aggression in Gaza be stopped, that America stop giving Israel billions of dollars in annual military aid, and that all academic collaborations and advancements in science with Israel be stopped, along with any cooperation with a terrorist and violent state like Israel.
In reality, American citizens, including students and professors, have proven that they are humans and stand for humanity. The protests by American students have exposed the worst human rights violations by the American government, revealing a grotesque face to the whole world. American students have exercised their right to be humanitarians.
It is unfortunate to say that what should have happened from the universities of Muslim countries did not occur. There is such silence in universities of Muslim countries, as if nothing has happened in Gaza. At some places, students have made some efforts, but there is a need to further consolidate these efforts.
Today, professors from American universities are becoming targets of police violence on the streets in support of Palestine, while professors from universities in Pakistan and other Muslim countries are not standing up at any platform in this movement. Students and professors should keep their differences aside, unite for the cause of Palestine, and prove with the spirit of Pakistan’s theories that Pakistani students and professors are not behind in supporting the Palestinian people.
