Former captain of the national cricket team Babar Azam’s star did not shine in the Melbourne Test.
Till the end of the second day of the Test match being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Pakistan had scored 194 runs at the loss of 6 wickets, with the Australian team out at 318 runs. Pakistan requires an additional 124 runs to end Australia’s superiority.
In the Boxing Day Test, Babar Azam once again failed, facing 7 balls and being caught after scoring only one run, making him Peter Siddle’s prey.

Babar Azam has not had a good year in Test cricket in 2023. He has not been able to cross the half-century mark even once in 8 Test matches. This is the first time after the debut that Babar Azam has been unsuccessful in creating even a single half-century in a year, and the former captain will definitely get an opportunity in the second innings of the Test match.
Pakistan played only 5 Test matches last year, in which the first match of the Green Shirts was against New Zealand, in which Babar was successful in scoring 24 and 27 runs in two innings.

In July 2023, Pakistan embarked on a tour of Sri Lanka to play a 2-match series. The series belonged to Pakistan, but Babar Azam remained silent here as well.

He scored 13 and 24 runs in the first Test and played one innings during the second Test, in which he contributed 39 runs.

Similarly, during the tour of Australia, he scored 21 and 14 runs in both innings of the Perth Test match, while in the first innings of the Melbourne Test, he proved to be just a guest of one run.
