Founder member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Akbar S. Babar, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to annul the intra-party elections and the re-election of party leaders. Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court after the court’s decision, Babar said that the decision will pave the way for a new direction, ensuring that all political party workers receive their rights.

Babar continued to say that they have put in a lot of effort in this case, first on foreign funding and then on intra-party elections, and when they raised their voices, they were accused and allegations were made against them. However, thanks to Allah, they have emerged victorious in court.

He said that political parties are the foundation of democracy and if this foundation is weakened, a strong building cannot be built. After the detailed decision, the importance of intra-party elections will become apparent in Pakistani politics.

After the decision of the Supreme Court, this action will not just stop here but will continue and the system will become stronger, requiring all political parties to be involved in this process.

He said, “Thanks to Allah, we have achieved great success. PTI was supposed to become a role model, which we acted upon practically. PTI and members of other political parties have been provided with fundamental and democratic rights by the Supreme Court today.”

For the first time in the country’s history, the importance of intra-party elections has come to the forefront, and awareness has been raised. Now, the direction will be corrected. Akbar S. Babar emphasized that the renewal of the democratic system is necessary, for which political leaders need to think seriously, with competence, and people with integrity and character should now come forward to participate in political activities.

PTI’s founder member had said, “Within two days, all the major lies have been uncovered and the truth has been revealed. Since 2011, when we started the campaign to institutionalize PTI, we have succeeded in the case of foreign funding and then intra-party elections. After the decision of the Supreme Court, the path of truth has opened, which no power can stop.”

He further said that political parties now need to increase their program to institutionalize and bring in merit, attributing the reason for the strife and arrests to personal and family control. Now, a strong foundation of democracy will be laid in Pakistan.
