Supreme Court sets hearing for 9-year-old treason case against Imran Khan

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has scheduled a hearing for the treason case filed against the founder and chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party since 2015. According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court registrar, a five-member bench will be formed for the hearing of the cases next week, while a one-member bench has been formed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed to hear important cases next week.

This five-member bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Masarat Hilali, will hear the treason case filed against Imran Khan by Justice Ijaz Siddiqui in 2015. The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for the appeal of the federal government against retired or resigned judges for February 12, which will be heard by a five-member larger bench under the chairmanship of Justice Aminuddin Khan.

In addition, a two-member bench has been formed for next week’s judicial proceedings, consisting of Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi. The third bench, under the chairmanship of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, consists of Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel and Justice Atir Mehmood. The fourth judicial bench, led by Justice Manzoor Akhtar, includes Justice Shahid Wahid and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan. The fifth judicial bench, headed by Justice Yahya Afridi, includes Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Ayesha Malik.
