In a dominating performance, South Africa emerged victorious over Pakistan in the second Women’s one-day international (ODI), thereby sealing the three-match series. The visitors triumphed with a six-wicket win at the National Bank stadium in Karachi.

Pakistan, after being put in to bat, were dismissed for 168 runs in 44.2 overs. Nadine de Klerk, the medium-pacer, was the standout bowler for South Africa with figures of 4-32 in eight overs. Another pacer, Msabata Klaas, also played a vital role by picking up three wickets.

Fatima Sana and Aliya Riaz were the only Pakistani batswomen to offer resistance against the South African bowlers, scoring half-centuries. Sana top-scored with 69 off 87 deliveries, including ten boundaries, while Riaz hit a 53-ball 53, which included three fours.

Chasing the target of 170 runs, South Africa achieved the victory in just 34 overs with six wickets in hand. Opener Tazmin Brits played an impressive knock of 45 runs from 54 balls, including four boundaries and a maximum. She built a solid partnership of 40 runs with Lara Goodall, who contributed 36 runs from 53 deliveries. Sadia Iqbal was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers, finishing with figures of 2-32 in her ten overs.

After a disappointing T20I series, where South Africa was whitewashed 3-0, the team made a remarkable comeback in the ODI series. They will now aim for a clean sweep when they face Pakistan in the final dead rubber fixture on Thursday.
