Sindh Minister Reviews Progress on Construction of Houses for Flood Victims

A meeting was held at the Sindh Secretariat Tughlaq House, chaired by Younus Dagha, the Provincial Caretaker Minister for Planning and Development, to review the progress on the construction of houses for flood victims.

The meeting was attended by Syed Hasan Naqvi, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board, Khalid Mehmood Sheikh, Chief Executive Officer of Sindh People’s Housing Scheme for Flood-Affected People, and other officials.

During the meeting, Dagha emphasized the importance of the project to construct 2.1 million houses for flood victims. He reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to completing the construction of these houses in a timely manner.

It was informed during the meeting that the verification process for 500,000 flood-affected houses has been completed. Dagha urged for immediate release of funds for the construction of these houses. He also emphasized the need to expedite the verification process for the remaining damaged houses.

The briefing highlighted that each affected household will receive Rs 300,000, and the payment process should be completed within six months. Dagha directed that progress reports on the construction work and payments should be submitted step by step.

To ensure transparency and quality in all payments and construction work, the minister instructed the officers to complete the documentation process in a timely manner. The respective deputy commissioners were also directed to provide ownership rights to the residents of the affected houses. The use of relevant NGOs for effective supervision and support in ensuring the quality construction of the houses was also emphasized.

Dagha reiterated that providing houses to flood victims is a top priority for the Sindh government. He urged for the speedy completion of the construction work, with the aim to provide relief to those who lost their homes due to the flood.
