Cricketer Shoaib Malik responded to reports about his contract termination with Bangladesh Premier League franchise Fortune Barishal by stating that he had left the country for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai. This came after media outlets speculated that his contract was terminated due to suspicions of match-fixing, with his departure drawing attention especially after some unusual bowling in his last match.
Shoaib dismissed the rumors and expressed his support for Fortune Barishal, stating that he is available to assist if needed. He also emphasized the importance of verifying information before believing and spreading it, urging caution with regards to rumors. Franchise owner Mizanur Rahman also addressed the rumors in a video, stating that there was no reason to complain about Shoaib’s performance and expressing hope for the team’s success in upcoming matches.
Fortune Barishal also shared Rahman’s video on its official Facebook page, urging people not to believe in the rumors and to respect Shoaib as a senior player. Rahman emphasized the team’s focus on upcoming games and their determination to reach the final.
