Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister stated that the kingdom could consider recognizing Israel if a comprehensive agreement was reached that included statehood for the Palestinians. Prince Faisal bin Farhan made these remarks during a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, emphasizing that regional peace includes peace for Israel, but this can only happen through peace for the Palestinians and the establishment of a Palestinian state. He confirmed that Saudi Arabia would recognize Israel as part of a wider political agreement. Prince Faisal also mentioned that the kingdom had been working on securing regional peace through the creation of a Palestinian state with the US administration, particularly in the context of Gaza. After the conflict between Israel and Hamas in October, plans for Saudi Arabia to normalize ties with Israel were put on hold, causing a delay in US-backed talks on the matter. Prior to this, both Israeli and Saudi leaders had indicated their intention to establish diplomatic relations that could have had a significant impact on the Middle East.
