NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the organization is closely monitoring the incident in which a Russian missile briefly entered Polish airspace before leaving. Polish officials are concerned about the proximity of the incident to Ukraine, where Russia carried out attacks resulting in at least 30 deaths. The Russian missile was detected by Polish radar systems before leaving the airspace. Stoltenberg spoke with Polish President Andrzej Duda and expressed NATO’s solidarity with Poland. The White House also assured its support to Poland and offered technical assistance as needed. This incident comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and neighboring European nations, especially those near Ukraine, which Russia invaded in February 2022. The war in Ukraine continues to have a significant impact on neighboring countries, with Poland’s newly elected Prime Minister pledging full support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has announced plans to send air defense missiles to Ukraine, which is currently under heavy bombardment from Russian forces. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently visited a town near the front line, praising soldiers for their service and resilience during the difficult times.
