The Mahbubnagar district of Telangana in India witnessed a shocking incident where a rickshaw driver expressed his opposition to the Mahalakshmi free bus ride scheme by setting his auto on fire. A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing a policeman standing next to the burning autorickshaw. According to local Indian media, the driver, named Deva, set his vehicle on fire and protested against the government. The policeman intervened to prevent the driver from harming himself and took him into custody. Firefighters eventually arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames. Auto drivers in Telangana have been protesting against the Mahalakshmi scheme, claiming it has adversely impacted their earnings. Additionally, a petition has been filed in the High Court against the scheme.
