PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has filed a request with the police to register an FIR against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers who threw a shoe and a lota at their female lawmaker, Sobia Shahid, in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Feb 20. PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam stated at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Saturday that the PTI workers involved in the incident also verbally abused the woman lawmaker and shouted slogans. Muqam expressed that this incident showcased the PTI workers’ lack of respect towards women and opposition members, which violated the sanctity of the assembly. He demanded that the assembly’s speaker take action against the perpetrators. If the FIR is not registered, the party will seek intervention from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Muqam emphasized the need for a prompt investigation into the matter, stating that the incident had brought dishonor to the entire province. The PML-N leader stressed the importance of political disagreements not escalating into personal enmity and called for accountability for those involved in the violent incident.
