The PTI has denied claims that Imran Khan will not contest intra-party polls for the position of party chairman while he is in jail. The denial came in response to a statement made by a senior party leader, Sher Afzal Khan Marwat, who claimed that Imran had decided not to run due to legal reasons and his disqualification in the Toshakhana case.

Despite the party’s denial, Marwat stuck by his statement, stating that he had the support of other party leaders in making his claim. Additionally, PTI Senator Ali Zafar also discussed the situation on a news show, stating that there was no confusion within the party and that Imran had asked him to hold consultations and give his opinion on the matter.

Zafar explained that there were considerations about whether Imran should contest the elections or if the party should nominate someone else in his place. He also mentioned that the ECP’s order for intra-party elections was illegal and that the party had appealed the decision.

Zafar said a final decision on whether Imran would contest the elections or not would be announced the next day. He also mentioned that the main purpose of the election, if Imran didn’t contest, would be to avoid potential disqualification by the ECP.

The party had previously moved the Sindh High Court against the ECP’s directive, claiming that it was part of an effort to keep the party away from elections.

Overall, it appears that the PTI is still considering its options for the upcoming intra-party elections, and a decision will be announced soon.
