The CJP Qazi Faez Isa-led three-member bench announced a verdict, dealing a huge blow to Imran Khan-led PTI’s hopes of retaining its symbol. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated that all the party candidates will contest the Feb 8 general elections independently. He also announced that the party would challenge the Supreme Court’s verdict. PTI leader Barrister Ali Zafar noted that the party was anticipating the decision, and their preparations were complete. He added that the party would compete in the February 8 elections with all-out force. Ali Zafar also regretted that ‘soft questions’ were asked from the people who appeared before the apex court. The Supreme Court’s order mentioned that the plea in Peshawar High Court was inadmissible, and PTI failed to present evidence of holding transparent intra-party elections. The ECP had been calling upon the PTI to hold its intra-party elections, and the order also stated the ECP’s actions against 13 other registered political parties.
