ISLAMABAD:  President Dr. Arif Alvi urged India to repeal draconian laws in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and reverse its unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019.

In his message on the eve of Kashmir Solidarity Day, President Alvi called for India to allow UN-mandated investigations into cases of human rights violations and implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

President Alvi also remarked on the Indian Supreme Court’s judgment of 11 December 2023, stating that it is another attempt by India to undermine the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.

He emphasized the 76-year struggle of the people of IIOJK to realize their right to self-determination and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the legitimate struggle of Kashmiris.

President Alvi highlighted the militarized environment in IIOJK and the fear and intimidation faced by Kashmiris due to indiscriminate use of force by Indian occupation forces.

He also mentioned the arbitrary detention of political activists and human rights defenders, as well as the banning of political parties representing the genuine aspirations of the Kashmiri people, all aimed at suppressing dissent in IIOJK.

President Alvi reaffirmed that seeking a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute will continue to be a key pillar of Pakistan’s foreign policy and pledged ongoing moral, diplomatic, and political support to the Kashmiri people until the realization of their right to self-determination as per the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
