President Dr. Arif Alvi has accepted the resignation of Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi from the Supreme Court. This decision comes after Justice Naqvi, who was facing complaints of misconduct, submitted his resignation due to public knowledge and a public record of circumstances. The resignation was accepted by Dr. Alvi on the advice of the prime minister under Article 179 (retiring age) of the Constitution. Justice Naqvi, who was elevated to the Supreme Court on March 16, 2020, had faced an inquiry by the Supreme Judicial Council and had challenged the proceedings against him before ultimately resigning.
