Possibility of South Asian Games being delayed once again

Pakistan is set to host the Safe Games in March 2024. According to details, an important meeting of the Steering Committee of Safe Games was held under the chairmanship of Project Planning Minister Mohammad Sami Saeed, which was attended by Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Fawad Hussain Fawad, DG Pakistan Sports Board Shoaib Khoso, President of Pakistan Olympic Association Abid Qadri, Secretary General POA Khalid Mahmood, and other officials.
The meeting evaluated the prospects of hosting the South Asian Games in Pakistan, reviewed the current obstacles, and decided that guidance would be sought from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this matter. The recommendations of the Foreign Ministry will be forwarded to the Prime Minister for approval.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of hosting the Safe Games and the soft image of Pakistan through these games. The Safe Games will involve the participation of five thousand athletes and officials from South Asian countries. Pakistan is set to host the Safe Games in March 2024, but in the event that it does not take place in Pakistan, Sri Lanka will become the host country. Due to Covid, the Safe Games were first rescheduled in 2021 and then during the PTI government for the second time in 2022.
