Authorities are currently investigating whether the 66-year-old driver experienced a medical issue while driving. Tragically, five individuals, including two children, lost their lives and several others sustained injuries after a car crashed into a beer garden in a rural area of Australia. The incident occurred outside a pub in Daylesford, approximately 110km (68 miles) northwest of Melbourne. According to authorities in the state of Victoria, an SUV mounted a curb and struck patrons on Sunday evening. At the time of reporting, four people were pronounced dead at the scene, while a young girl passed away in a Melbourne hospital where she was airlifted for treatment. Five additional individuals, including an 11-month-old infant, are currently receiving hospital treatment for their injuries. Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton described the scene as deeply distressing and stated during a press conference that authorities have been unable to interview the driver, who is receiving medical care, and the cause of the incident remains uncertain. Breath tests have concluded that the driver had not consumed alcohol, and all possible factors, including the possibility of a medical episode, are being investigated by the police.
