A blast in Peshawar’s Warsak Road has resulted in at least six people, including four children, being injured. Two of the children are in critical condition. The bomb, which was estimated to be about four kilograms, was planted in a “cemented block” on the side of the road and has caused extensive damage to the area. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The caretaker prime minister and interim interior minister have both condemned the blast and have called for the rapid recovery of the children.
After the blast, the caretaker KP Chief Minister also condemned the attack and urged the police to take immediate action. This is not the first time such an incident has occurred on Warsak Road, and political activities in the province have been hindered due to the uptick in terror activities. According to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, there was a 34% increase in anti-state violence last month. KP was the most affected province, with 51 attacks causing 54 fatalities and 81 injuries. Balochistan also recorded nine attacks causing 18 fatalities.
