In a recent operation conducted by the New Fojdari Police Station, a smuggling attempt of sugar and urea to Afghanistan was thwarted. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the National Highway and successfully recovered 350 tonnes of sugar and 11,254 bags of urea.
It was revealed that the seized sugar and urea were intended for smuggling to Afghanistan. The confiscated items are now being transferred to the food department for further action.
Under the directives of the caretaker government, a nationwide crackdown is currently underway against smuggling activities.
Earlier in February, the Mochko Police in Karachi discovered 150 bags of urea being illegally smuggled to Afghanistan via Balochistan during a routine inspection of a passenger coach.
In another incident, the Customs department in Quetta seized significant quantities of urea. During a search of a container and trailer at the Lakpas Checkpost, they intercepted 300 bags of urea and sweet supari (betel nuts) worth Rs60 million.
The authorities are taking these cases seriously, implementing stringent measures to curb smuggling activities and protect the national economy.
With the caretaker government’s firmness and the determination of law enforcement agencies, such operations are expected to help in combating smuggling and ensuring the country’s welfare.
