Senior leader and Senator Omar Farooq of the Awami National Party (ANP) hinted at a possible deal on Monday, claiming that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) approved the name of the caretaker prime minister after reaching a decision on the upcoming government.

Farooq suggested that the interim setup might reopen files against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders but that the PML-N would remain safe. He also stated that the PML-N aims to expand the interim setup until Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan.

The Senator expressed regret that the PML-N had made decisions against democracy and the interests of the people in an effort to regain power. Farooq believes that they should have opposed the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government instead of being a part of it at that time.

Furthermore, the ANP leader warned that whatever is happening with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) today could happen to them (ANP) tomorrow. He emphasized that hunger for power often leads to deals that weaken the Parliament.

Regarding the performance of the PDM government, Farooq stated that they have done nothing for the people in the past 16 months. He also emphasized that timely elections are a constitutional right, and any delay in holding elections will be a major issue.
