PM Shehbaz Sharif Pledges Support for the Revival of Pakistan’s Film Industry

In a commitment to revive Pakistan’s film industry and restore its former glory from the 1960s and 1970s, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif announced that the government would take necessary steps to support the growth of the industry. Speaking at a ceremony, PM Shehbaz Sharif distributed health cards and awards among film and television stars, while also releasing film, music, and Pakistan Radio archive policies.

Highlighting the importance of the film and drama industry in bringing joy and entertainment to people’s lives, PM Shehbaz Sharif assured that the caretaker government would also extend its full support. The artist community plays a vital role in enriching Pakistani culture and heritage by creating memorable moments and alleviating stress and anxiety from people’s lives.

As part of initiatives to restore the film industry, the government has already introduced various tax exemption initiatives and incentives. Furthermore, PM Shehbaz Sharif urged the artist community to form a committee and share suggestions to promote the film industry further.

Expressing his appreciation for the contributions made by artists, writers, poets, producers, directors, and musicians, PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need to revive the glorious period from the 1950s to the 1980s. This era brought recognition to Pakistani films, dramas, and music not only within the country but also across borders and around the world.

Recognizing the significance of culture in society, PM Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the efforts and performances of prominent maestros and film stars such as Waheed Murad, Muhammad Ali, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Sabiha Khanum, Musarat Nazir, Shabnam, Anjuman, Babra Sharif, Sultan Rahi, Sangeeta, Mustafa Qureshi, and renowned comedians.

Attending the ceremony, Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman also praised PM Shehbaz Sharif’s commitment to reviving the film industry. The prime minister also commended bureaucrat Kamran Lashari for his previous efforts in preserving Lahore’s cultural heritage.

Additionally, PM Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the unwavering support of former Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb in restoring the film and drama industry and promoting the welfare of the artist community.

During the event, the prime minister unveiled an application featuring 75 years of Pakistan Radio archives and a book on Pakistan’s film industry. These initiatives aim to preserve the rich history of Pakistani art and entertainment.
