A PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Jeddah airport shortly after takeoff due to a smog alarm. The Boeing 777 aircraft had 375 passengers on board at the time.
Upon receiving the smog alarm warning in the cockpit, the pilot immediately contacted the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) to request an emergency landing. This swift action was taken to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew members.
As a precautionary measure, PIA engineers have been called in to inspect the aircraft for any potential issues. Once the inspection is complete, the flight will be rerouted to Karachi instead of Sialkot, and the passengers will be transferred to a different plane in Karachi.
This incident came shortly after an air ambulance had to make a technical landing at Islamabad International Airport. The air ambulance was en route from Kolkata to Azerbaijan when it experienced a technical problem requiring an immediate landing.
Both incidents highlight the importance of prioritizing passenger safety and the professionalism displayed by the pilots and crew in handling emergency situations. Airlines must always be prepared to handle unforeseen circumstances to ensure the well-being of their passengers.
