Kicking off the weekend, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Pervaiz Elahi was taken into custody by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab on Saturday. This comes just a day after Elahi was granted bail in the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) attack case.
Following his release from Adiala jail, the former Punjab Chief Minister was promptly re-arrested by the ACE team. He was then brought before the judicial complex for a transitory remand, presided over by Duty Judge Shahrukh Arjumand. The judge approved Elahi’s one-day transit remand.
Officials have stated that Pervaiz Elahi will be transported to the ACE headquarters in Lahore by evening.
Earlier on Friday, Elahi was granted bail in the judicial complex attack case by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain approved the bail against a surety bond of Rs 20,000.
It is worth noting that Elahi has been arrested and detained on multiple occasions since the May 9 riots.
