The temporary federal cabinet has granted a three-month extension to Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee.

As per the notification issued by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, the powers of the PCB Management Committee have been limited.

The notification states that the Management Committee is not authorized to make high-level appointments, but it will handle the election of the Board of Governors and the Chairman.

The Management Committee will only deal with day-to-day affairs and will not be able to make any policy decisions.

Additionally, the committee’s extension will not exceed three months.

The PCB stated that the Ashraf-led Management Committee was initially established in July 2023 for a four-month period, and the caretaker Prime Minister, as the patron of the PCB, has granted a three-month extension.

On Thursday, former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi met with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar to discuss various aspects related to cricket in Pakistan.

During the meeting, Afridi, who previously captained the national team, shared his insights and recommendations for improving the state of the game in the country.

Importantly, PM Kakar encouraged Afridi to actively contribute to the development of cricket, particularly focusing on areas that need improvement.
