A shocking video of a passenger attempting to open the emergency hatchet during a mid-flight in India has gone viral on social media. The incident occurred on an IndiGo flight from Guwahati to Agartala.
The viral video was initially shared on a popular social media platform called X, formerly known as Twitter.
The video shows the cabin crew and fellow passengers of the flight subduing a 41-year-old man named Debnath, who was seated next to the emergency hatchet.
According to an Indian news agency, fellow commuters attempted to stop the man, but he persistently tried to open the hatchet. It was later discovered that the passenger was under the influence of narcotics. Authorities apprehended him after the incident.
Ironically, this incident occurred just a day after another passenger named Manikandan attempted to open the emergency exit door of an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Chennai before takeoff. He was also deemed “unruly” by both passengers and cabin crew, and was handed over to the police upon landing in Chennai.
These incidents highlight the importance of safety protocols and vigilant passengers in ensuring the security of flights. IndiGo Airlines, the airline involved in both incidents, has not commented further on the matter.
