During an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, security forces engaged in an exchange of fire with terrorists, resulting in the death of one terrorist, Naikman Ullah. The operation was conducted based on reported terrorist presence, and weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from Naikman Ullah. A sanitization operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any other terrorists. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the security forces are dedicated to eradicating terrorism from the country. This incident comes after similar operations in Lakki Marwat district and North Waziristan district, where three militants and two terrorists were killed, respectively. Terror activities have increased in Pakistan, particularly in KP and Balochistan, following the end of a ceasefire with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. A security report from the Centre for Research and Security Studies revealed a significant increase in violence-related fatalities and attacks in 2023, with KP and Balochistan being the primary centers of violence.
