Pakistan has rejected the United States’ suggestion to investigate electoral discrepancies, asserting its independence and sovereignty. Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that no country can dictate to Pakistan about its internal affairs. The US State Department spokesperson had called for transparent investigations into allegations of misconduct in the February 8 elections. The ECP and caretaker government have denied accusations of tampering with election results. Pakistan has its own domestic frameworks to address any election-related issues. The government has not commented on a letter from US Congress members urging not to acknowledge the new government in Islamabad. The Foreign Office is in communication with US and Pakistani embassies regarding the indictment of four Pakistanis in the US for supplying arms to Houthi rebels.
