In a significant development, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) informed the Supreme Court that general elections will be held on February 11, ending months of uncertainty. During a hearing of petitions calling for elections within 90 days after the dissolution of the National Assembly and provincial legislatures, the ECP’s lawyer disclosed that the process of drawing constituencies will be completed by January 29, paving the way for the polls. The chief justice directed the ECP to consult with the president and provide a response to the court within 30 minutes.
