The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir is set to visit the United States for the first time in his role, the military’s media affairs wing announced on Sunday. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir will meet with senior military and government officials during his visit. The trip comes after a telephone conversation between the army chief and US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin in October, as well as a meeting with US Central Command (Centcom) chief General Michael Erik Kurilla in July. This visit also follows the ISPR’s denial of rumors that COAS Munir had made a secret trip to the US while on a visit to the United Kingdom earlier in the year.
